About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the Indigenous Aquatic Stewardship Fund is to enable Indigenous-led environmental protection and restoration efforts while advancing public awareness on environmental stewardship and Indigenous knowledge regarding fisheries and aquatic ecosystems in British Columbia.

Our Vision

Our vision is for a future where Indigenous peoples in British Columbia are leading the safeguarding and stewardship of fisheries and aquatic ecosystems.

Programs

Through our diverse range of programs, we collaborate with West Coast communities to champion environmental conservation, ensuring the vitality of our natural world and fostering a sustainable future for generations to come.

Protection and Rehabilitation of Aquatic Resources

We focus on the vital task of preserving the health and resilience of our freshwater systems, oceans, public waterways, and riparian habitats. These precious resources provide essential ecological services, such as clean water, nutrient cycling, and habitat for countless species. By actively protecting and rehabilitating these environments, we contribute to the overall well-being of our communities and ensure there is a continuation of shared knowledge fostering a sustainable future for the next seven generations.

West Coast Salmon Protection

We are committed to the rebuilding and recovery of wild Pacific salmon populations, as they are a keystone species that remains vital in for the health of aquatic eco-systems. By working towards the rebuilding of wild Pacific salmon populations, we are ensuring the preservation of cultural and economic livelihoods of Indigenous communities across British Columbia.

Educational Programs

Public awareness and education plays a pivotal role in our efforts promoting Indigenous interests relating to environmental stewardship. Through developing broad awareness we provide the public with the knowledge and actionable steps to ensure healthy and resilient aquatic ecosystems for the future.
